Jonathan worked as a
primary teacher before pursuing a career in I.T. He never quite managed to catch
one, but he’s still trying. Word processors were to Jonathan’s writing
career what lungs were for amphibians. He has had humorous articles published in
I.T. trade magazines.
Jonathan attended creative
writing evening classes in Newbury and Essex for several years and has written
many short stories and poems, and has recently completed his first novel, Jack
and Candy.
Jonathan is currently
writing a second novel, and has a screenplay in mind, but still in the planning
stage. He is also a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and
works part-time as a hypnotherapist. He is putting together a practical
self-help book based on techniques that he has developed in working with
clients. A sort of Blue Peter ‘Here’s a technique I prepared before’ book,
with lots of illustrations and practical activities. It’s meant to be fun.
Jonathan founded
WordWatchers in Newbury in 2001 in order to surround himself with people who
would be very disappointed if he didn't finish his novel. It is a thriving
writer's circle which has so far produced several finished books and others in
production. Writing a book is hard enough, but it’s only half of the job.
WordWatchers are now concentrating their energies on how to get published as
well. It’s a learning cliff.
Jonathan has been married
and divorced and married again, happy and miserable, well-off and very poor,
worked in excellent jobs as well as the other kind, and has two children who are
practically grown-up. He can't remember ever being bored.
