Charlotte Betts
Charlotte Betts began a career as a dress
designer back in the late sixties, moving to London to become another cog in the
frenetic world of the fashion industry. After the birth of her daughter she
moved to the country to have more babies, bake bread and grow vegetables.
After
her husband followed his star and sailed away to Brazil, Charlotte returned to
college, supporting herself and her three children through a variety of
part-time jobs including cooking business lunches, being an artist’s model and
teaching evening classes. Ten year later she married again, acquired two more
children and set up a business designing hotel interiors. She wrote a regular
interior design column for The Maidenhead
Advertiser until she relocated home and business to Newbury in 2003.
Always a bookworm, Charlotte discovered her passion for writing after
the children had grown up and left her in peace. She compulsively eavesdrops on interesting conversations and makes
notes on scraps of paper, which she stores in her handbag until there is
sufficient material for the next novel or short story. She is currently working
on her sixth novel. Other interests include keeping chickens, renovating old
houses, walking and daydreaming.
