Katherine
Webb Born in 1977, graduated with a degree in History from Durham University (1998, BA Hons), and then started my first novel. I lived and worked in Venice and London before moving to Berkshire in 2003, pursuing a long string of unrelated, dead-end jobs… I have completed seven novels and several short stories. My fourth novel, Juno, was short listed in the London Book Fair’s LitIdol competition in 2004; and my seventh, Quietly Shining, spent several weeks at number one in the Arts Council sponsored website YouWriteOn’s chart, eventually winning a critique from an industry professional. The book is now due for publication by Orion in summer 2010.
A short story of mine, Annie and Blue came second in a local competition in 2007, judged by award winning author Leslie Wilson. The Cuckoo came second in the Chapter One Promotions international short story competition in April 2008, and is due to be published in their anthology in 2010. I live in Newbury with a giant orange cat; read voraciously and enjoy cooking, cinema and the great outdoors.
