WORDWATCHERS

Abbie Todd

Abbie’s first taste of seeing her work in print was at the age of 9. It was a poem about reading a magazine on the loo, but everyone has to start somewhere! She went on to win a number of short story and poetry competitions for young writers. Her work appeared in local, national and international publications, including a short story in a book entitled ‘The Perfect Crime’.

She attended the University of East Anglia in Norwich, and graduated with a degree in English Literature with Creative Writing. She is a qualified proofreader (who will be mortified if there are any spelling mistakes in this) and works in the publicity department of an academic book publisher.

She was a part-time children’s bookseller for five years, and confesses to not reading many ‘grown-up’ books any more, probably because she has a very short attention span.

She likes ice cream and having warm feet (yes, you can have both at the same time!), and is slightly uncomfortable about referring to herself in the third person (though her friends will attest it’s not the first time this has happened).

She joined Wordwatchers in November 2008 after moving from ‘up north’, and hopes that the support and encouragement will inspire her to make time to finish that pesky first novel.
